What is Yoga?

"Yoga is the journey of the Self, through the Self, to the Self."
(Bhagavad Gita)

Yoga is an ancient Vedic philosophical practice, originated in India more than 2500 years ago. It offers many tools, from meditative to physical, in order to allow for a wholistic approach to health and wellbeing. The practice of this tradition is timeless as it means to strengthen and balance the flow of energy within your physical body, increase your vitality and understand and deepen your relationship with yourself and others. It provides you with the opportunity to re-connect to your inner self and to explore and discover your own true nature through the lens of a clear mind. It teaches you the ability to pause, step back, reflect, shift perspective and choose wisely from a place of self- compassion and peace within. It brings you back home, especially in times when you feel like a stranger to yourself due to circumstances, expectations, ideas, values and habitual patterns.

Dynamic and static movements linked with conscious breathing prepare the mind to focus, to gain in clarity and to make positive changes. Breath- centered Yoga postures balance, direct and regulate the flow of circulation through the organs of the body and the energy throughout the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, providing relaxation, strengthening and resilience in demanding situations.

"They keep saying that beautiful is something a girl needs to be. But honestly? Forget that. Don't be beautiful. Be angry, be intelligent, be witty, be klutzy, be interesting, be funny, be adventurous, be crazy, be talented -- there are an eternity of other things to be other than beautiful. And what is beautiful anyway, but a set of letters strung together to make a word? Be your own definition of amazing, always. That is so much more important than anything beautiful, ever." -- Nikita Gill
